Still Relevant At Almost Fifty

Remember 1968 ?

The Beatles "White Album", the Vietnam war, the assassination of Martin Luther King or the maiden flight of the 747 Jumbo Jet.

From a tax law perspective , during 1968 there was a tax case that is still deemed very relevant today.

The Ready Mixed Concrete case set out tests to determine if a worker is a employee or can be treated as self employed.

Why is it imporatant ? Get it wrong by treating a worker as self employed when they should be treated as employed and HMRC will raise an assessment on discovery for the tax which would of been payable. You would then need to recover that back from the worker.
